Baard Family

If I ever wanted a perfect example of a family shoot to show future families, this would be it. Yes it was on a tropical island, yes it was a beautiful family, but.. there are a few distinct things Marisa did right. First of all: We had time. I love shooting in the golden hour which is the last hour before sunset. Due to great planning from her side, we arrived exactly at the the right time, we where not rushed for time, there was more than enough light and everyone could literally explore, play and have their photos taken in a natural manner. Secondly, location. The Baard family chose a location that they where familiar with, one they knew weren’t going to be crowded, one with a beautiful landscape as a backdrop, and one they have had numerous lovely moments at before. Making it the perfect playground for a photo shoot. Thirdly, wardrobe. It is a good idea to color coordinate but not in such a manner that you become too matchy. Marisa picked a range of blues, greys and neutrals, colours that suit their skin tone, that they wear daily and that worked well with the location. They also selected items that each individual felt comfortable with, they live in shorts, so why not do a shoot in them. The last very important topic I want to cover is attitude, they had such a cool, laid back attitude making everyone comfortable and enjoying themselves whilst I could click away and have my own fun. There you have it, a perfect recipe to a very successful shoot.

Thank you guys, for making me part of this very memorable experience and one of my favourite family shoots ever! I hope to visit Mauritius again sometime and to be able to take more such stunning photos in the future.
