Behind the lens
A Journey begins with a thousand miles - This is exactly how I would describe my photography career and the journey I walk with my clients. Extraordinary things happen when you start with small, simple beginnings.
A Journey begins with a thousand miles - This is exactly how I would describe my photography career and the journey I walk with my clients. Extraordinary things happen when you start with small, simple beginnings.
Born and raised in South Africa, I always had the longing to express this artistic desire in my heart. I discovered photography early on in my childhood, and I knew that this was my intended path to take. My dream was never to become a teacher, lawyer, or take over the family business as my parents had hoped. But, instead, to share this intense love for capturing life's beautiful moments and turning them into unforgettable memories.
After school, my journey of a thousand miles began, and I headed off to glamorous London for two years to travel, learn, and build my portfolio. As a receptionist at Warner Brothers, receiving 100's of portfolios from professional photographers, I was in awe of the immense talent. This motivated me to become a successful photographer and stirred a dream to shoot the cover of a magazine one day. So after two years in London, I headed back to South Africa and got my BA degree in Information Design, specializing in photography. Even before I finished my studies, I had captured my first wedding, and as they say, the rest was history!
Travel is a big part of my photography career. I believe it significantly impacts my style, experience, and continuous learning in perfecting the art. Therefore, I make it my mission to travel yearly to international destinations to attend photography courses from world-renowned photographers. Destinations I have shot at include the US, Paris, Germany, Mauritius, and Dubai.
Destination shooting is what gets my heart racing and makes my soul happy. Some of my proudest moments include working with Donna-Lee Roberts for her Romantice Collective Range, shooting for ZA Apple Store, my first destination wedding in Santorini, meeting Amelia Lion in Las Vegas, the famous Bruce Smith in London, and photographing world famous Paris Photographer Greg Fynck at an elephant sanctuary here in South Africa.
My style is light, natural, and classic, with an adventurous twist. I prefer to use natural light and minimal lighting equipment. I always strive to create a comfortable and personal environment where you feel safe, can be yourself, and trust that the outcome would be exactly how you imagined it.
I want you to know that this passion in my heart will flow over to your project as if it is my own. For that one day, I am in your shoes and will make
the magic happen!
